26/04/10 STOP PRESS NEWS

I completed the Virgin London Marathon yesterday in a time of 4hours and 57 minutes. Pictures and a full report of an amazing experience to follow soon...

Mid-life crisis? Maybe.

Bravado? Possibly.

Plain stupidity? Almost certainly!

Whatever the reason, I'm running in the 2010 Virgin London Marathon  and am embarking on a training regime that will no doubt have my body begging for mercy before too long.

Personal discomfort aside, I'm hoping to raise as much money as possible for my chosen charity - the National Autistic Society. As a father of two young boys with Autism Spectrum Disorders I have personal experience of the great work the NAS does. Over the last few years of living with autism the journey has been made easier by all the help, support and advice provided. This is my opportunity to give a little back and show my appreciation for what the NAS has done for us.

I’d be delighted if you would support me in achieving my fund-raising goal through a donation, large or small :-

£15 helps pay for an Autism Helpline advisor to send information to five worried parents

£25 pays for the first stage of training a volunteer befriender

£50 gives 10 people access to the Autism Helpline providing information and support to people with autism and their families

£75 pays for three families to attend an EarlyBird programme providing vital help and support to families of pre-school children with autism

£100 helps pay for a child to be diagnosed at an NAS assessment centre

Please return to the site regularly to see how the fund-raising is progressing - I hope to keep it topical with news, photos etc.

Cheers,

Dave.
