Great North Swim 2009 · 12 September 2009 ·

Living with deafblindness can be incredibly lonely, isolating and scary. Our specialist support helps people cope emotionally and practically. We listen, advise, care, support, coach, mentor and connect people. We help people to live better with sight and hearing loss.

Story

Well it's about that time of year again where I decide to do something vaguely athletic with the aim of raising a bit of money for charity!

This year (due to the number of requests that I do something in which I will most certainly not be wearing a mankini!) I've opted for the Great North Swim.  For those of you who don't know (I imagine most) - it's a mile swim in lake windermere.  "Surely you could do this in a mankini!", I hear you cry?  Well actually no,  they recommend a full wetsuit and actually won't let you in the water without one if the water isn't quite warm enough.

The charity I'm raising money for this year is Deafblind uk: for more information about this charity visit: http://www.deafblind.org.uk/

Needless to say, it's a very worthy cause!
