Story

On 22/01/2010 Lisa and I became the proud parents of 2 twin boys who were born 16 weeks premature, Tom & Ethan Cooper

After only a week at the Queen Alexandra Hospital neonatal unit they were both transferred to Princess Anne Neonatal Unit, due to both requiring surgery.

Tom’s was an emergency transfer requiring immediate bowl surgery.

Both boys were very ill and after only 3 weeks and having had 2 major operations to his bowel Tom sadly passed away on the unit on 12/02/2010.

With the unbelievable support of family, friends the Nurses, Doctor’s and Consultants we somehow managed to find the mental and physical strength to carry on for our son Ethan.

Ethan amazingly despite numerous health setbacks and emergency trips back to both units has pulled through and his on going progress has been nothing short of remarkable.

Through the on going trials Lisa and I have been left forever thankful of the staff at the Princess Anne & St Mary’s Hospital on the Island who have been nothing short of amazing.

At present the Princess Anne Neonatal Unit are trying to raise £70000 for another family Unit and St Mary’s Hospital have similar projects which they haven’t the funds to complete either.

As a way of trying to say thank you friend and work colleague Simon Morgan and I would like to support the on going fund raising for other families who tragically find themselves in these situations, Simon and I will be taking part in a 120 mile bike ride, the Tour of the Black Mountains in Wales which takes place on Sunday 10th July 2011 www.touroftheblackmountains.com

This is one of the toughest one day cycling sportive events in the UK .

Lisa and I hope that by sharing our story we have given you a bit of incite into the priceless precious care these units provide and how your help can make a big difference.

Many thanks

Dave, Lisa & the star himself - Ethan Cooper
