<p>The Bobby Moore fund carries out research into Bowel cancer.This is the disease that cruelly took the life of the&nbsp;professional footballer Adam Stansfield last year.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Although I didn't know Adam,&nbsp;teaching in Hereford, where Adam used to play,&nbsp;and supporting Exeter City FC, I knew of Adam.&nbsp;Adam was special.&nbsp;He had a close&nbsp;affinity with the fans of a number of clubs, not just Exeter City, and this was clearly seen when the public lined the streets as his funeral cortege passed. He was a local lad,&nbsp;and a&nbsp;family man, who worked hard to make the best of&nbsp;both his abilities, and the&nbsp;opportunities&nbsp;that&nbsp;came his way.&nbsp;His work ethic&nbsp;was clearly visible on the pitch, and&nbsp;his previous strike partner, Stuart Fleetwood, described him as the&nbsp;'running&nbsp;machine'.
