Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I lost my Dad last September after his long and courageous fight against Prostate Cancer which had advanced before being detected. He loved walking amongst other things and I’ve decided to take on the Lyke Wake walk at the end of May. The walk is a NON-STOP complete crossing of the North Yorkshire moors and covers a distance of approximately 40 miles.
I’m doing it both in memory of my Dad and to raise money for the Teesside Hospice whose care, both for him and my family was exceptional during a very difficult time. It’s a common misnomer for a Hospice to be thought of as solely a place for the terminally ill to spend their last days but believe me, they offer so much more....
The Teesside Hospice Care Foundation was formed in 1982 in response to a shortfall in specialised care for those suffering from a life limiting illness. Its primary aim is to act as a resource to the local community to provide holistic specialist palliative care. This is achieved through pain management, rehabilitation and respite care for families and carers at any point during a life-limiting illness.
The staff at the Teesside Hospice are truly exceptional helping over 3,000 people each year from the Teesside region. But with running costs of over £2.2 million and only a third covered by local NHS, they need continuous funding.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So...I’ve bought my boots & training has started. It would be great if you would now dig deep and sponsor a fantastic cause.
Cheers Dave
