Hi,

Having been inspired by last year's marathon, which some of my friends ran, I have recklessly signed up to run in 2010. This is despite the fact that the furthest I have ever run in my life is 10 miles (and that was last week). So, it should be an interesting ride.

I have chosen to raise funds for the London Sports Forum for Disabled People. The London Marathon in particular is a very good opportunity for charities large and small to raise significant funds for their causes. The London Sports Forum does what it says on the tin - it raises funds for undertaking and arranging sporting activities for disabled people in London. This includes, for example, projects to identify talent for the 2012 paralympics. You can find out more details on their website (http://www.londonsportsforum.org.uk/). It is, in my view, a great cause and I am grateful to be able to raise funds for a charity that operates where I live.

I suppose I better let you have the blurb from Justgiving:

"Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity."

I know that there are a lot of fundraising events done by a lot of people, but I will be so grateful for anything you can donate, no matter how small, as it all counts of course.

Don't forget to come along and watch the pain - 25 April 2010

Thanks

Dave
