Right then, here we go: Many of you may or may not know I had to undergo a major heart operation when I was a child of only 22 months. This was a massively difficult and stressful time for my folks as this particular operation had never been attempted on a child before. The operation was performed by Mr Donald Ross of England's National Heart Hospital, who also performed the world's first transplant of an aortic valve in 1962. The operation was a complete success, although some may argue agianst that!

I made a full recovery, and now thirty plus years on I have a beautiful wife Jo, an amazing 4 year old daughter Izzy and another child on the way. I run a successful office furntiure business with Jo in Brighton and we enjoy life to the full. None of this would have been possible without the work of Donald Ross and his team. Therefore at the ripe old age of 37 I decided it was time to do my bit to say thanks and hopefully loose a few pounds (lb's) in the process.

So I've hatched a plan to walk round the Isle of Wight, starting from Cowes on the 17th May2010 covering a total distance of about 67 miles. It may be worth noting at this stage that I propably haven't walked 67 miles in the last 37 years so this is to be quite a challenge and will even involve TRAINING!!

So please if you can spare anything to help it would be amazing.

cheers

Dave
