Story
My Gran suffered from Alzheimer’s when there was much less awareness about the illness and the suffering it causes not just the individual, but the family and friends around them. I used to take my Granddad to see her when she had to be moved to a care home as he simply couldn’t give the round the clock attention she needed. It was heart breaking to see his face day after day, when there was no flicker of recognition from the woman he was married to for over 50 years.
There is no formal programme currently available for carers of people with dementia and that’s where we can all make a huge difference. With our support Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland will be able to launch the first UK wide dementia carers programme, giving 9,000 carers the information and skills they need to support their loved one to live well with dementia.
Lloyds Banking Group fund the cost of the trip to allow the participants to focus on raising much needed sponsorship and this is where I really need your help! I am looking to raise over £5000.00 for the Charity.
