Story
13/09/09: UPDATE: THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! WE DID THE WALK - in record super-slow time! There were 89 people taking part, a rousing speech from Arthur Bostrom of 'Allo 'Allo fame, and lots of happy dogs. It was a wonderful day and I'm particularly proud of my mum for completing the route - with one replacement hip, one dodgy hip, and hurty sandals on her feet. Your support means so much to everyone.
NEXT CHALLENGE: A BIKE RIDE AROUND SILVERSTONE RACE TRACK!!
I'm taking part in the Daventry Alzheimer's Society Memory Walk on Sunday, September 13 - and hoping to drag some of my family along too. It's a walk around Daventry Country Park, only a few miles, but far enough for me!
- Look at this:
- * 1 in 3 people over 65 will die with dementia
- * There are currently 700,000 people living with dementia in the UK
- * This figure is likely to rise to one million by 2025
- * The Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading support and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them

Alzheimer's is a terrible disease but it seems with every passing week scientists - many funded by the Alzheimer's Organisation - are getting closer to understanding its causes.
This walk is the start of a campaign I hope to continue throughout 2010 to raise as much money as possible for the Alzheimer's Society and the fantastic work it does.
