Story

Hi there and thanks for looking in!.

In September I cycled 350 miles from Bordeaux Cathedral to Sete Lighthouse in France for The Katie Piper Foundation. Who's aims are to establish a burns/scar management centre in the UK, and increase support and acceptance for people living with disfigurement.

I watched Katie, My Beautiful Face last year, and recently watched Katie, My Beautiful Friends on channel 4. Both were quite thought provoking. So when my friend Marcus Hardiman suggested this ride it seemed like a fantastic idea!

Unfortunately I hadn't cycled much distance for a couple of decades and my body screamed everytime I sited a hill! Cycling though the country lanes and bridleways of The Test Valley is worth the effort though!

The Team was brilliant! 11 cycling, 1 toddler on the back and Ian and Anne Burnham in support. Everyone pulled together, no one was left behind. Very well planned, well led, and the weather was idea.

The paths did get very challenging towards the end. The final day was 71 miles, mainly sandy towpath with large tree roots, but no one went in the canal!

I am still hoping to reach my target before closing the page so if you would like to give I would be ecstatic, or tell a friend!!!!. Thanks David
