In Autumn 2009 I fly to Kathmandu for a 14 day trek in the . The culmination of the trek (weather & feet permitting) should be an ascent of Kala Pattar, a peak that overlooks Everest & Everest Base Camp.
A number of people have asked if I could be sponsored, so I would like to raise funds for the SHIVA charity.
SHIVA charity supplies funds for various education projects in , .
The teachers & principal are devoted to their school & their jobs, but it will have to close if they cannot raise enough money to pay staff or buy books & equipment.The school needs about £1000 a year to help as many of the parents can't afford the fees.
£1000 may not sound much to us but in it is a fortune, and can make a huge difference to the future prospects of the local people.
Mountain Kingdoms, the company I will be travelling with, are hoping to build a science lab & library at a cost of £9000 & your donation will go towards this project.
SHIVA charity does excellent work in promoting education, something we tend to take for granted, in Nepal & Sri Lanka
