We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

Hello friend and thanks for visiting my page and hopefully donating!

I am running the British London 10K on Sunday July 14th 2013 in aid of CALM - The Campaign Against Living Miserably and in memory of Lanfranco Gaglione who I and many others miss dearly.

Much to everyone’s shock and disbelief, my good friend Lanfranco Gaglione took his own life in February 2012 as an attempt to escape depression, which he suffered in silence. He was a generous, kind, funny, motivated, talented young individual, who would have done anything for anyone, so I feel the least I can do is run 10km and raise as much money as I can for the charity CALM - The Campaign Against Living Miserably to help prevent other young men taking their own life.

I am initially aiming to raise £200 for CALM - The Campaign Against Living Miserably, however, anything above and beyond this target would be fantastic.

Quite simply, despite being an avid footballer, I hate running! however, I am willing to put myself through this in order to raise money to support this charity which is now close to my heart.

Any size donation would be greatly appreciated - if everyone could give just £1 it would go a long way. If you are, however, feeling particularly generous and would like to donate more that would be fantastic!

This is a charity that receives little support and the majority of people who do support it have unfortunately lost a friend or family member to suicide.

The aim is to reduce the ridiculously high rate of male suicide in this country as well as raising awareness of the issue and providing support for people, particularly young males, considering this as a viable option and suffering from depression.

The British London 10K is essentially CALM's flagship fundraising event - last year over 100 runners managed to raise over £20,000 from this event alone. With your support we can better this total this year.

Thank you so much,

David Duggan
