I'm really proud to be able to support the Quilter Foundation who are working to support those amazing caring young people who give up their time, health and prospects to care for others.
So, to try and do my bit, I've ditched the lovely late lie-ins, the lazy afternoons on the comfy sofa and the "Just one more pint!" evenings, for early mornings of jogging, rainy afternoons of running and "Just one more mile!" evenings.
It is a small sacrifice to give up a little bit of my social life and spare time to try and give a bit more of an opportunity to the most selfless members of our society.
The Quilter foundation's own words say it best:
Today, there’s an estimated 700,000 young carers in the UK looking after loved ones with disabilities, long-term illnesses, mental health issues or addiction problems.
Caring for a loved one from a young age can have a serious impact on a young person’s future prospects, education outcomes and mental health. That’s why we have launched the Young Carers Campaign, a collaboration that aims to invest £1.5m over three years to give tens of thousands of young people the chance of a brighter future.
