RP Fighting Blindness - Iceland Trek 2011 · 16 July 2011 ·

Retina UK is the only UK charity dedicated solely to working for people affected by inherited sight loss. We fund medical research to accelerate the search for treatments for the future, and provide information and support to help people lead better lives today.

Story

<p>Thanks for helping father and daughter team David and Hollianne Head* fundraise for RP Fighting Blindness. They were part of a group that RP Fighting Blindness took trekking in Iceland to raise funds to find a cure or treatment to prevent sight loss through RP (retinitis pigmentosa).</p> <p>See <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5YIPcfixuc">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5YIPcfixuc</a></p> <p>The whole group worked hard to raise funds, get fit, and complete the challenge. David and Holly agreed to raise &pound;4,000 through this appeal. (In addition &pound;2,500 is being pledged (and underwritten by David) to be raised at a Rugby Music Festival planned for 2012).</p> <p><span style="color: #800080;">*<em>David is the CEO at RP Fighting Blindness, Hollianne is his daughter. Both are keen travellers and hikers who wanted to make a difference for people faced with the threat of sight loss, and at the same time give the experience and thrill of trekking in this beautiful and challenging country to a group of visually impaired people, all of whom are also fundraising for the charity.</em></span></p> <p><span style="color: #800080;"><em><span style="color: #800080;"><em>Note: Our "offline" total included here is <strong>&pound;2624.01<br></strong>Updated 18 Dec 2011 and included most recently:<br></em></span></em></span><span style="color: #800080;"><em><span style="color: #800080;"><em>23/11 Donated from DCH expenses claim &pound;32.75<br></em></span></em></span><span style="color: #800080;"><em><span style="color: #800080;"><em>5/11 Proceeds of Tombola at Corley VH &pound;60<br></em></span></em></span><span style="color: #800080;"><em><span style="color: #800080;"><em>1/11 Cash donation &pound;3.80<br></em></span></em></span><span style="color: #800080;"><em><span style="color: #800080;"><em>22/10 Proceeds from colleciton in Milton Keynes &pound;356<br></em></span></em></span><span style="color: #800080;"><em><span style="color: #800080;"><em>29/8 Proceeds from Music For Sight event in Rugby </em></span></em></span><span style="color: #800080;"><em><span style="color: #800080;"><em>&pound;748<br></em></span></em></span><span style="color: #800080;"><em><span style="color: #800080;"><em>29/8 Raffle ticket sales &pound;20<br></em></span></em></span><span style="color: #800080;"><em><span style="color: #800080;"><em>25/8 Donation from David &pound;100</em></span></em></span></p>
