Story

The Friary Drop In is a West Bridgford based charity for the homeless, those living in temporary accommodation and poor unemployed. They run three open mornings per week which provide food, clothing, welfare advice, access to a GP and other health and hygiene services. On top of this Friary Drop In run a free crèche for the homeless and unemployed and an allotment, which is run voluntarily and by those who use the charity. As well as all these services the centre operates as a social hub to those vulnerable people.

The Friary Drop In has been to subject to many cut backs in donations from both private and public funds. This combined with the closure and reduction in services of many city centre homeless organisations has meant the charity has had more people needing its help, but less money to operate with.

Any donations given will be used to help the Friary Drop In to continue to provide as many of these services as possible to as many people as possible. A link to the Friary Drop In's website is posted below.

Our connection with the Friary Drop In is through David's father, Kelvin, who is Chairman of the Trusties of the charity. When we decided we were going to cycle from John O'Groats to Land's End we wanted to do it for a small local charity, so the Friary Drop In was an obvious choice.

We plan on completing the ride in twelve days, travelling through Oban, Liverpool and Bristol. Each day we will be travelling between 65 and 90 miles at an average of 78 miles per day. During the ride we will stay with relatives, in hotels and camp.
