Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In a moment of bravery or stupidity I will be running the London Marathon in April 2010. Not being known for athletic prowess I am not aiming for a particular time but just proving that Fat Boys can indeed run. Whilst embarking on this personal challenge, I aim to raise as much money for charity as possible to aid those in a less fortunate position than I am.

I am very lucky to have a good job and be able to provide for my healthy and lively wife and kids - my worst nightmare would be if one of the kids was to fall ill with a serious illness, although I have great friends and extended family who would support the battles that we would face. However, for many the situation they face on a daily basis is a constant and often lonely challenge when one of their children becomes seriously ill. They is no rhyme or reason to this but not only does the child affected have to summon amazing strength to battle the illness, but also the parents and siblings have to find a way to cope with their own stresses but also support the stresses of those that are ill.

I have decided to raise money for The Rainbow Trust. This amazing charity provides practical and emotional support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. By joining the family in their own home and providing whatever practical support is needed the strain is eased such as by attending hospital appointments with parents, sitting by the bedside of the sick child to give parents a break and taking worried siblings out for the day.
