Hi Everyone,

As you may know, my dad died in January 2009, after a long and hard battle with Cancer.

After dad died, I decided I wanted to give something back to the charities and hospitals that did their best to ensure dad was kept as pain free as possible, and doing all they could to help.

So...what better way to aid the research into Cancer than by running the London Marathon, for a Cancer charity?

The charity I have chosen to run for is the Institute of Cancer Research.

Although not having a direct impact on the life of my dad, or my family, (like that of the Eleanor Nurses), I felt they had been the most progressive in their research to eliminate cancer, for example:

·         They were the first to discover the potential link between smoking and lung cancer which was subsequently confirmed.

·         The first to find that the basic cause of cancer is damage to DNA.

It's for breakthroughs like these that I want to raise money to aid their research.

After seeing the pain my dad went through and the pain we felt as a family seeing a loved one suffer, it's obvious that more needs to be done to stop cancer being a life threatening disease.

Hopefully you'll be able to 'dig deep', and support a worthwhile cause that will help the many that are affected by cancer today.

Thanks for all your support!!
