Thank you very much for visiting my Just Giving page. On the 25 April 2010 I am running the London Marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support and ask that you please donate whatever you can to this fantastic charity. Mike Whetstone and I had planned to run the marathon together once he had regained his health but I shall now be running it in his memory.

As many of you will know, back in 2006 I suffered from a form of lymphatic cancer called Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Thanks to Macmillan I was able to take part in a trial which cut the length of treatment which I received. This meant that I had to undergo less chemotherapy and no radiotherapy which has benefitted my body hugely in the long run (no pun intended).

So why run the marathon now? As many of you will also know my best mate Mike passed away in September having bravely fought cancer for a year and a half. The courage he showed in the face of the many challenges and ordeals which he had to endure was nothing short of inspirational. Once it became apparent that Mike’s battle was one which his body would not allow him to win, the support which he and his family received from Macmillan was invaluable. Thanks to the selfless work of the many nurses who cared for Mike he was able to spend his last days at home with dignity, in relative comfort, and surrounded by his family and friends.

By running the marathon I hope to raise some money to ensure that others who are confronted with this extremely difficult situation can benefit from the tireless support which Macmillan continue to administer.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
