Update on 23 June 2010.

I completed the ride on Sunday with my good friend Gary Goodman. It was certainly gruelling but a marvellous and thoroughly memorable experience, shared with 600 other like-minded people. During the ride I found reserves of physical stamina and mental strength within me that I was unaware I had, which has been personally rewarding.

We took B roads most of the way and the weather was, on the whole kind, which made the ride through some of the most beautiful part of Scotland and England hugely enjoyable.

The event was very well organised with large tented villages set up for us every night with hot showers and good food to revive us.

Thanks to the generosity of my sponsors I have raised nearly £8500 (including Gift Aid) for Macmillan Cancer Support and for this I am extremely grateful.

.............................................................................................................................................................................................................

On the 12th of June, I am undertaking the monumental challenge of cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End on the Deloitte Ride Across Britain 2010. The ride is being led by double Olympic gold medal winner, James Cracknell OBE, who has decided not only to do it in the more difficult direction, north to south, but also to follow a 'picturesque' route covering 1008 miles in 9 days- an average of 112 miles a day! You may have seen David Walliams and his team of celebrities doing the same route recently for Sport Relief.

The official charity for Ride Across Britain is Paralympics GB. However, I have decided to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support as I would like to help, in some small way, the marvellous work that this charity does with cancer sufferers.

As I am personally funding all the costs associated with the ride, every penny donated will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support and I hope you can help me achieve my target of £3000, which will make all the training and 9 days of pain worthwhile!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you.

Best wishes
