Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We have done it! The Team. comprising of me and 3 members of the 14th Greenock Boys Brigade and Chris from our Port Glasgow Church took up the challenge to walk St Cuthbert's Way from Melrose to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne - about 63 miles crossing the border from Scotland into England.  It was a challenging 4 days as we walked in rain, a little sunshine and some cloudy and windy conditions.  The up hill climbs were a struggle for me, but the boys were gracious and waited at the top!  A great sense of achievement to cross the causeway onto Holy Island.  We have done this for a great cause - the Greenock East United Reformed Church "Building for the Future" Project.  Greenock East URC is set in one of the 5% most deprived areas of Scotland.  Our aim is to become a truly community church.  In addition to our uniformed organisations we have already begun a parent and toddler group, under 8's disco, family party nights and are planning to start soon a parenting group and building a long term relationship group, with a dad's club and media club also in preparation.  Recently in conjunction with Inverclyde Youth for Christ and the Parish Church we have begun a weekly youth group aimed at those young folk who feel excluded from other groups.  But to carry out all our plans we need a building fit for purpose so are raising an initial £150,000 for urgent repairs.    So now is your chance to help!  Once you have donated, send a link to this page to all your friends!   Check out the church website at: www.urc-greenockeast.org.uk
