Story
My story: I turned 64 earlier this year which is approaching retirement age, not that I’m thinking of retiring any time soon! The fuel and cost of living crisis is hitting the most vulnerable the hardest. Winter is going to be a greater challenge for many.
My challenge: Between Christmas and New Year I’m going to walk everyday between The Swan at Marbury and The Black Bear in Whitchurch, covering a total of approximately 64km.
My aim: I am hoping to raise at least £200 for Age UK to help them through, as the song goes, a cold, cold winter! Please give generously through this tough time!
Why you should donate: 1.6 million older people struggle everyday without the care they need. 2 million carers are older themselves. 70% of older carers feel under strain. Most people will feel lonely at some point in their lives. It’s a deeply personal experience that - in most cases - will thankfully pass. Sadly, 2.65m older people feel they have no one to turn to for help and around 3.9m older people consider TV to be their main form of company. Donating to this page will help the national Age UK to continue providing vital services that offer companionship, advice and support for older people facing later life alone.
