RUN FAT BOY RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Run a Marathon - This is something I never thought I would do!

Thanks to all those that have helped with my training particularly Gary (for talking me into it! And for being there every step of the way!), Neil (Thanks for your patience and perseverance!) my family and of course everyone at NOW Recruitment and Maddison Group who have had to listen to my continual commentary on the ups and downs of training!

Just shows how dangerous a drunken conversation can be !  When Gary said lets do a Marathon I thought he meant a chocolate bar!

As with many things in life once the idea is there you start looking for additional reasons for doing something this was no exception.  Having lost 3 close family members to Cancer it really made me think that I could do others good whilst torturing myself !

As I run, or drag myself the 26 miles I will think of my Mum, Bert and Jennifer.  Having seen the cruel way in which Cancer destroys people and the lives of those around them I felt I wanted to do something to help those suffering.

Whilst the loss to our family has been sad at least we can take comfort in the fact that all 3 had full and happy lives. That sadness cannot in any way compare to the tragedy of losing a young life or the trauma of living with the thought that you could lose a child or a grandchild. As a father that is something I hope I never have to contend with.

We have therefore decided to support the Acorn Trust who we know provide a much needed respite and support structure for families of children with terminal conditions.

We sincerely hope you will agree with our choice and help me us by giving generously safe in the knowledge that I will be suffering (whilst Gary takes pictures and laughs!)  in return for your kindness!

Bless you all xxx
