Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in Aid of Street Child World Cup.
Street Child World Cup is a project that turns dreams into reality for children around the world. It began life in Durban, South Africa, to assist street children in the city and to challenge the brutal way they are often treated. The project brought teams of children from around the world to compete in Durban before the 2010 World Cup. The competition will be replicated in Rio de Janeiro in 2014 when sixteen teams will come together to highlight the plight of children in Brazil, India, the Philippines, South Africa and elsewhere.
This exciting initiative was the brainchild of the Revd Chris Rose of the Amos Trust which is based in St Clement’s Eastcheap in the City of London, and it has been adopted this year by the Diocese of London as our Lent Appeal. I hope we at St Bride’s can support this project.
As we prepare to celebrate again the costly love of God for us all shown on the cross, we are called to reflect back to others something of that extravagant love. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a real difference for street children who deserve a future free from fear, neglect and abuse.
Join me and others on Friday 8th March 2013 at St Bride's Church Yard for our Brazilian themed sponsored sleep-out raising vital funds for the Street Child World Cup. There will be entertainment, a breakfast voucher for all sleepers and the chance to hear more about the Street Child World Cup. Each sleeper is hoping to raise £80 or more.
There are leaflets available at the back of the church, together with other ideas about ways of raising money for the Diocesan Lent Appeal.
With thanks
