Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Mission almost accomplished!! My goal of completing 400 marathons and having raised £50,000 by the time of the April London marathon in Olympic year 2012 is within sight. So I've raised the bars as I'm already on 404 and £49,000 so the goal is now 407 and £55k!

For the 13th consecutive year I'm heading the Daily Telegraph's Marathon Team raising money for the Brain and Spine Foundation charity. We had the marathon team launch in mid January at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal and once again our honorary captain is the former boxer Michael Watson (see photo with me), a truly inspirational person if ever there was one. You may recall that it was Peter Hamlyn (the charity's founder) who was responsible for Michael still being alive today after being severley brain damaged in a boxing title fight. Then in 2002 Michael completed the London marathon in 6 days-in itself a miracle.

So all I do is act as a conduit between the public and the unfortunate sufferers of brain disorders by asking for donations to the charity. I do the hard work, you do the giving, the B&S do the work and the sufferers benefit. Simple really.

So please dig deep and help me achieve my £50,000 fundraising dream that started at the Stratford marathon in 1988 and which will be achieved (hopefully) this year at London. The marathon running that started in 1982 is the easy part. Honestly!

Thanking you on behalf of the charity and the people who will benefit from any donations you make. Please look at the charity's web site for further information of their wonderful work.
