Currently, only just under 40% of cases are diagnosed with bowel cancer at an early stage, and it is the second biggest cancer killer. The focus of of Bowel Cancer UK over the next three years is to spread the message and  to save many more lives.

In my 50’s and 60’s I ran 13 marathons, including 4 in London. When a Virtual London Marathon was introduced in 2021, I took it on, even though now walking it with my stick. After a finish in under 7.5 hours , I did it again in 2022, in 7:13:15. In 2023  I succeeded in the ballot for the actual event in London, and on April 23rd 2024 two months after my 90th birthday I was on the actual London start line for a memorable day as the oldest participant of 49272 starters. I have been told that my time of 7:16:46, was the fastest 90+ age finish recorded for a 90+ in London. I am now taking on the 2024 event.
