At Compton Care we believe life with a complex and incurable illness doesn't have to be limiting. We work with patients to inspire, support and encourage them to take charge of their lives - because being alive isn't the same as feeling alive.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for Compton Hospice. The hospice provide excellent care and provide this without charge at the point of delivery. They rely on the your generosity and my idiocy (or bravery - it is a fine line between them and am never quite sure which side this trip falls) to allow them to provide this invaluable care.

Everest Base Camp is a little over 17,000 feet above sea level and Kala Pattar (the literal high point of this challenge) is 17,500 feet (compared to Mt. Snowdon's 3,500ft) make this a rather daunting challenge (and it gets more so the closer the departure date gets). I will be keeping an online travelogue, and this can be found at: http://www.mytripjournal.com/davesbasecamptrek2011

Thank you for your generosity.
