Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I would like people to sponsor me in aid of the Iain Rennie Nurses who are currently looking after Jane's father, who is ill with cancer.
We set off on our bikes to Vienna from Neufahrn (near Munich) on 26th May and reached Vienna as planned four days later. In doing so we cycled 510km through the beautiful countryside of Bavaria and Austria, then down the Danube river. Below are some details of the trip as recorded by Quinton, and I have also uploaded some photos. A big thankyou to my friends who cycled with me, without their encouragement and support I would never have made it. I definitely wouldn't have had so much fun!! Also a big thankyou to all of you who have donated some money to this truly excellant charity. There is is still time to donate so if you havent already done so, please give whatever you can using the link below.
Thank you!!!
PS Any ideas for next year's cycle trip???!!!
Twitter Update FINAL
We came, we saw, we cycled. On what the local press have been calling a momentous day for mankind, 4 blokes and a support vehicle swept into Vienna at speeds in excess of 10kph, the final 126km of the day eaten up by the frenzied peleton sniffing the thrill of a sprint finish.
There were some fallers - again of the 0kph variety - and for style david won this by a mile - sprawled on the bridge imitating an upturned turtle sunbathing, and at that point he thought he had it in the bag. But duncan had other ideas, and outside the final hotel, in view of all, he went for it, the triple salco, twist with a spin and a grazed knee - carrying a 3.2 score for difficulty in execution - and he nailed it, wuth an audience on the high street - quite inspired - and leaving David fuming but admiring duncan for the sheer audacity of falling off his bike into the hotel foyer - quite remarkable!
We clocked 510km in total - av speed today a bit lower, but the jostling waiting crowds slowed our progress - as did the picturesque lady at the Beer Cafe.
Bottoms feel and look like those of a baboon, although I can only speak from what I have been told - I promise I did not covet any of them in the steam room or sauna last night, though I may have sneaked a look.
Chris has the single room tonight - not because he deserves it for his fetching carrying and organising but because he snores terribly and we have only had half a night sleep when sharing with him.
Duncan has promised to sing kariokee tonight - 'kids of america'.
We are all off to eat Wieneschnitzel.
We had a bonding session of how we met our true loves, each one of us recounting the moments, the tenderness, sharing with each other - and after that we talked about when we met our wives!
2 beers down, ten to go - topless dancing (by us as duncan sings) and then home tomorrow and cramp in the car home
Love to all
Xx Twitter Update #6 Arrived in Melk - 120km, 5 hours 23mins later at av 22.1kph

Fabulous castles, v picturesque
Xx Twitter Update #5 Coffee in Wallsee, with 20km to go till lunch
Our map and all the sign posts must be in miles contrary to the agreed upon europe wide convention of kilometres.
As a result, despite our meticulous attention to the route we end up doing at least 20km more than originally calculated - if it wasn't for the wonderful company, and my overwhelming fitness I would find this a little irritating.
Too distressing to give Matts heart rate - I have assumed its so low because its frozen cold so cruel he is forcing us on relentlessly with no rest, no water and no food - even chris is starting to struggle now.
3 Ouzo each and a beer last night, and then 4 bottles of red shared in the greek restaurant. No dancing, no birds Twitter Update #4 We have made it fantastic - great job, very tiring but well worth all the hard hours training, well done boyz ....... What, Linz?
