Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Back in November 2010 I took part in a fundraising trek to Nepal after Mum had died the previous year from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. It was a life changing experience and a great way of fundraising alongside other participants who had also lost loved ones and witnessed the devastating effects of the disease.
Six years on and I have decided to take on another Alzheimer’s Society fundraising trek, this time to the Grand Canyon, again in memory of Mum but also Dad who died in 2013. He was an amazing carer for 5 years before Mum deteriorated and had to spend the last 3 years in a care home. He visited every day often bringing her back home or taking her out on trips in the car.
Dad had always made it clear to us (my 2 sisters, my brother and myself) that he wanted to make a substantial donation to the Alzheimer’s Society when he died. We were delighted and proud to carry out his wishes. Mum & Dad’s story was then featured in the spring 2014 edition of the Alzheimer’s Society newsletter.
So this fundraising trip is dedicated to both of them. Mum, the
most gentle, sweet, funny lady who endured the disease for over 8 years and Dad the most wonderful carer and loving husband.
Every penny that you give will go directly to the charity (I am covering the cost of the trek myself). Your contribution will help provide funding for research into the cause, cure and prevention of the disease; support
for people with the illness; campaigning for improved health and
social care and providing resources and training.
Once you donate, your money will be sent directly to the charity. Gift Aid can be reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
So don't forget to tick the Gift Aid box!
Every little amount will help so please donate now.
