My story

Hi all

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

With three "Men's Health: Survival of the Fittest" events and two Half Marathons done, I'd been pondering on what my next challenge should be. Finishing October 2011's Cardiff Half Marathon thinking: "There's NO WAY I could run another 13 miles", I guess my choice was inevitable - and I registered for the Virgin London Marathon 2012.

However - ironically, as I'd been seeking a challenge - the need for an operation hampered my plans, but I have deferred my placement to the 2013 Marathon.

I'll be running for St Anne's Hospice in Newport which provides exceptional care and support to the people of Gwent who have a progressive, life limiting illness.

This care, of course, doesn't happen without its inherent cost.  Providing 24/7 care of the highest standards and the medication necessary to provide comfort, dignity and support is expensive.  This year it will cost £1.3m to provide patients with the care they deserve - two thirds of which has to be raised through fundraising.

This is where I am asking YOU to help me.

I appreciate that times have become tighter recently but, if there's any way that you could please contribute by helping to sponsor my run, it would be hugely appreciated by both St Anne's and myself.

Thank you in advance for your support!  I'll keep you updated with my progress....

Dave/Barney
