On Thursday 20th September I will be undertaking a challenge in aid of supporting The Charlie Hook Appeal, here in Hull, however please do not stop reading as this isn't your ordinary request or challenge.
Charlie is suffering from an aggressive form of childhood cancer. Charlie is receiving intensive treatment, however should it not work, or should Charlie relapse the only option is for Charlie to travel to America for treatment and this will cost £300,000.
The challenge I am undertaking is done with the fantastic support of the team at CatZero here in Hull.
On Thursday 20th September at 1700 they will be hoisting me 96 ft in to the air and then leaving me suspended for an hour at the top of their CatZero Yatch mast.
OK, so this doesn't really sound that high, but please let me tell you, at High tide the CatZero yacht will not fit under The Humber Bridge due to the height of the mast and you can actually see the mast over the top of the buildings on Hull marina! So it really is some height.
Although they do take people to the top of the mast, ordinarily the only individuals that stay up there for anything more than a few moments are CatZero's engineering team and this is due to the strain placed on the body being suspended for this length of time.
So the challenge isn’t just one of being that high up, it’s also a challenge on my body as well as my mind.
