Story
Thank you so much for supporting my quest to complete the 2010 London Marathon on behalf of Macmillan
I have always had a lifelong ambition to complete the London Marathon but have never got round to it. I recently attended a Dairy Crest course that was extremely thought provoking and made me realise that you need a compelling reason to accomplish a goal. I have seen first hand how Cancer can effect a person. My grandad passed away through bowel cancer and my nan is currently being treated for cancer. My best friend Sarah Hutcheson died of Cancer at the age of 15 and I was there to witness the awful effect it had on her, but at the same time really see what fantastic people the Macmillan nurses are. A lot of the nurses that cared for her attended her funeral, which was an extremely emotional affair. These were just some of the people close to me that have been affected by the awful disease and I want to be able to do something to help the millions of others that are affected. Having been accepted to the marathon I am hoping to spend a few days voluntary work / shadow a Macmillan nurse to really see at the ground level what Macmillan does and to really leave me with a visual picture that will help me. I have heard that most marathon runners ‘hit the wall’ at 17 – 20 miles. I want this visual picture in my head of the day I spent in Macmillan to spur me on to the finish line. My pain is nothing compared to those that are battling cancer.
I have been tasked with raising £2000 so please, please help me in donating to this great cause !!
