I've decided to run the Three Peaks Race (24 gruelling miles, up and down three of England's most majestic peaks, Wernside, Ingleborough and Penyghent) in aid of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society. I was shocked by how many hedgehogs I have seen run over recently; after surviving the long, hard winter in hibernation, to come out and get squished on the road. I aim to raise £150, however if I make over and above that, I pledge to wear hedgey with me on my hand as i'm running the Three Peaks. UPDATE: let's go crazy and head for £200 and if I reach this, I will wear a furry hedgehog strapped to my head!

The aims of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society are:

• - To encourage and give advice to the public concerning the care of hedgehogs particularly when injured, sick, treated cruelly, orphaned or in any other danger.
   
• - To encourage children to respect our natural wildlife - by supplying information and giving lectures and thus fostering an interest in hedgehogs.
   
• - To fund research into behavioural habits of hedgehogs and to ascertain the best methods of assisting their survival.
