After a few wines one evening, I agreed to help my friend Mike Bulcock train for the Children's Adventure Farm Trust sponsored bike ride from London to Paris. I had not been on a bike for probably thirty years but I was determined to lose weight and get fitter and this seemed an ideal opportunity to do both.
Ten weeks later, which has included bike rides to Liverpool and Blackpool, another friend, Nick Fowler, and I are joining Mike (and I believe about 45 other people) to raise money for this extremely worthwhile charity.
At this point the thought of cycling 300 miles in four days seems an almost impossible challenge, but we've worked out a fairly agressive training schedule and we are determined to complete the ride.
The Children's Adventure Farm Trust provides activities for disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the North West, for more information please visit their website www.childrensadventurefarm.org
The best encouragement we can have over the next nine weeks is to see the sponsorship money rising, we need a minimum of £1300 each but we would like to get this up to about £2000.
Thanks in advance for all your support
Dave
