We help survivors of brain & spinal injury to rebuild their lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page where 100% of all donations go to the amazing BASIC charity for brain & spinal injured people. Each pound donated will go to the specific project to create a Carole Nash building extension to the specialist gym in BASIC's dedicated Salford premises, including specialist cardio vascular equipment to help people get moving again after serious injuries. As a biking company, sadly each year some of Carole Nash customers end up needing the services of this wonderful organization, to literally get back on their feet (and even their bikes sometimes) if possible. None of these donations are used to fund my trip.

The challenge itself is a long held personal ambition to attempt to reach the geographic north pole in April 2010. As a member of a team of five, we will initially train and acclimatise in Spitsbergen, within the high arctic archipelago of Svalbard, before transferring by Russian aircraft to the temporary ice station Barneo. From there we will set out to cover the last one degree latitude, ie from 89 to 90 degrees. Facing temperatures of below minus 35 degrees, arctic storms, thin ice with 4000 metres of the arctic ocean below and of course polar bears just awakening from hibernation we will endeavour to walk and ski, sleeping on the ice, to our dream of the north pole.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you.
