Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 21st April I will be attempting, for the first time, to run the Virgin London Marathon on behalf of KIDS.

KIDS is a national charity which for over 40 years, has pioneered a number of approaches and programmes to help disabled children and young people. These include Home Learning, Parent Partnerships, Adventure Playgrounds and the inclusion of disabled children in mainstream settings. KIDS wishes to build on this history to meet the needs and aspirations of a new generation of disabled children and young people and their families. In doing this, KIDS will become one of the leading charities in developing both the thinking and services that create an inclusive world for disabled children, young people and their families.

I have been following a 20 week training plan, which so far is going well. It involves running 4 times a week, one short run, two intermediate runs and a long run. I'm getting into the high mileage part of the training now, with a 14 mile run last week, which I did in 2 hours 10 mins. The longest run peaks at 20 miles next month, so on the day, the last 6 miles will be unchartered territory for me!

My target time to complete the marathon is 4hours 15mins +/-.

I should have made more sacrifices than I have done to prepare for the marathon. In fact I have used the extra training to load up on essentials such as biscuits and a few after training beers.

Your generosity will undoubtedly help me through the rigours of the race, knowing any pain endured is helping such a worthwhile cause.
