Story
Although it barely seems possible, it's now almost a year since David died. In his memory and in honour of a cause that he felt so passionately about, a team of his family and friends are walking 43 miles across Wiltshire - David's old stomping ground and the place he loved most.
David always loved a good challenge, so we've set ourselves the target of walking 43 miles in one day. On Saturday 13th August, a group of his family and friends will be setting off at 3.30am, hoping to reach his family home by 8pm the same evening.
We've chosen Afghanaid because David spent 18 months in Afghanistan and it was a place he cared deeply about. Afghanaid is an international humanitarian and development non-governmental organisation (NGO) which has worked alongside Afghan communities for nearly three decades. They currently work directly with over 1 million adults and children focusing on long term sustainable development in some of Afghanistan's poorest rural areas. After much deliberation and consideration of a range of charities, David's brother Chris decided on Afghanaid because of its vision (which David shared) of a peaceful and secure Afghanistan, where Afghans exercise their rights to political freedom and economic opportunity in a country where institutions are held accountable.
We would love it if you could help us support this worthy cause in honour of David. If you are a UK taxpayer, please also Gift Aid your donation to help us raise even more. Every pound raised will help spur us on over all those hills to a triumphant finish when we reach our target!
