Well, I volunteered and was selected to be part of a team of around 30 University of Sheffield students to climb the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro in August 2012 (quite a while away). The charity group is called Dig Deep which helps with the water and energy problem in Kenya. More information about the Charity can be found at: http://digdeep.org.uk/.
There is a massive water problem in Kenya; disease, dehydration and starvation is all due to the lack of fresh water. Villagers have to walk several miles a day just to get some form of water.
I have to raise a hefty £2500 for Dig Deep, and to help with the fundraising, the team will be doing crazy stuff throughout the year (shave my head perhaps, skydiving, anything that could raise money really), as well as standard fundraising with the university.
Mount Kilimanjaro is 6km high and the 4th most prominent peak. We will be climbing to the summit. The trek will take several days and won't be easy and a lot of training with physical and mental endurance is required.
Any donation would be very helpful. It is entirely for charity and I won't take a single bit and if you're a tax payer, please select Gift Aid as it will add 20% to your donation at no extra cost to you.
Please ''Dig Deep'', tell your friends, family, colleagues and anyone willing to help out the situation in Kenya.
Thanks in advanced and greatly appreciated.
Adim.
