The Arsenal Foundation Challenge Jordan 2020 · 23 March 2020

The Arsenal Foundation is a grant-making charity of the Arsenal Football Club, which focuses on work to motivate and inspire young people - often through education and sport - to help them reach their potential and be the best they can.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  If you are able to donate too that's even better.  Just imagine how much you would pay to see me walk for several days through the desert, camping, carrying my gear and eating sand (probably) - and type that number in.  Then in late March you can wake up each morning, smile that you're not sleeping in a sand pit or on a flat rock, and know that you've earned your laugh.

I'll be walking for 4 days through the desert and mountains of Jordan, joined by a couple of Arsenal legends and 99 others representing Arsenal supporters around the world.  We'll walk from the Dead Sea to Petra, taking in some mountains along the way.  There will be hot sun and plenty of sand.  There may be camels.  There aren't any bars.

Together with Save the Children the Arsenal Foundation has co-developed the groundbreaking Coaching for Life programme, which aims to improve the mental well-being of children affected by conflict and violence.  That has to be good, Arsenal fan or not.

Update:  Due to the escalation of COVID-19, The Arsenal Foundation felt there was no choice other than to postpone the challenge, to 22-27 March 2021. This is frustrating but understandable given the number of participants flying in from all over the world.  I still expect to complete the challenge next March, partly due to the miles/hours I've already put into preparation but also because your donations to date mean I have no choice..

Thanks again, especially if you have already supported the cause.
