Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.

Most off you know my story by now. I was diagnosed with Asymptomatic Myeloma in July 2009, and my family began my journey with chemotherapy in November 2010.

This has most definitely been a challenge with many highs and lows. The lows culminating with a Stem Cell Transplant which I had in July 2011 and which, fingers crossed, seems to be doing the job it is meant to....only time will tell. I am now on maintenance therapy which we hope will prevent my relapse for as long as possible.

But as I wrote my blog over the summer,  (http://debsjourneywithmyeloma.wordpress.com/) I realised how many people have kept Nick, I and our family going through this testing time. I never again want to have to go through another transplant and be away from my family and friends again. The more research that goes into Myeloma and how to find a cure for this, yet incurable cancer, the greater the hope of me avoiding another transplant.. My dream may just be a dream, and another transplant may be inevitiable, but if there is any chance of it coming true, I am going to do my best to achieve this. I can't say I've enjoyed the last period of my life much at all.

So I have decided to open this webpage to see whether I can raise more money towards all the invaluable research work that MMUK do for all of us with Myeloma. They really are a charity worth every penny that they raise. And that means that every penny, you feel able to donate, either via your own events or through this page, is worth so much

So over the years to come, this page will stay open. For different reasons:

*for any fundraising events I organise (like the tabletop sales and the Glitz and Glamour Ball)

*as a means for someone with an urge to make a one-off donation :-),

*as a means for those who want to tithe (though it would probably be more cost effective to do that direct via www.myeloma.org.uk)

*to maybe inspire some of you to do your own fundraising. Not necessarily for MMUK, it may be something else that is your dream, but that dream is just as important.

Thank you for reading this guys, and thank you for all you contribute to our lives....you may not realise it, but some of you have already done more than we will ever probably be able to thank you for....and this is just the beginning of one hell of a journey!!!
