Story
Having spent much time as a patient at the Royal United Hospital, I am taking on a challenge of a lifetime to say a huge thank you to them for their support over many years. This has enabled me to conquer my ill health instead of it conquering me. They have not just saved my life from a close to death experience and supported me with debilitating ill health, but continue to help me. They have been extremely caring, supportive and understanding, and I couldn't have hoped for a better team of people to be there not just for me, but also my family. At first I thought that this challenge would be totally out of the question, partly because I suffer with an immunological disease that affects the skin on my feet, which can cause extreme pain when walking. However, with the support of the RUH, friends and family, I truly believe I can do this.
The RUH Cancer Care Campaign is raising £8.5 million to contribute vital funds to the building of a pioneering new Cancer Centre for the RUH. This new Cancer Centre will build on its holistic approach taken with the Dyson Centre for Neonatal Care and balance the clinical expertise of the hospital with the provision of a nurturing and therapeutic environment. The aim is to create a Centre which will create a highly beneficial healing environment and transform the care of the patients and their families, and will provide a model of care that can be replicated elsewhere by similar hospitals.
I have recently lost my dad, loved ones and know of many people that have struggled with this devastating disease and can therefore appreciate how much this Centre will help others. I can't think of a better way to say thank you than to help raise funds for this new Cancer Centre. I know I will find this challenge extremely difficult, none the less I remain determined to complete this challenge for the benefit of others.
Please donate anything you can to support this great cause. I am so very grateful for all your support.
Debbie.
