The 10k MoRun Cardiff 2012 · 18 November 2012
Last week after completing the Cardiff Half, a friend asked if I could help by running for team 'Running With Nancy' at the Mo Running 10k in Bute Park.
20 months ago, Lyn and Lucy Thomas had a beautiful baby girl Nancy. Shortly afterwards they were given the devastating news that Nancy had Cystic Fibrosis. This incurable disease affects 9000 people in the UK, and affects every major organ in the body. Nancy will have a life of medication, physio and eventually transplant lists.
Lyn and Lucy are asking friends and family to get involved by raising awareness of the illness. They are aiming to create something positive out of their devastating news, and team 'Running with Nancy' was born. Lyn and Nancy (in her jogging buggy) attend every major 10k in Wales, and this year completed the Cardiff Half Marathon, with a strong team in their vivid yellow jerseys.
I am proud to be running in the penultimate 10k this year for Team Running with Nancy, and hope to raise not only some awareness, but also some vital funds for care and research into this disease.
