Story

Debi Stylianides was cruelly taken from us on the 30th October 2015 aged 22. Due to complications from her treatment, an infection was too much for her fragile body which battled lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukemia for over two years. Despite her mind still willing to go on, her body was not. Debi was an immensely caring and loving person, to such a level that it was endearing and infectious to everyone she knew. Debi was always thinking about others, always wanting to help anyone in need and to honour this brilliant attitude of hers and to reach out and aid those in similar circumstance we've decided to continue to try and raise money and awareness of a charity that was really close to Debi's heart.

CLIC Sargent did an amazing amount for Debi, like it does for thousands of young cancer sufferers up and down the country. CLIC Sargent helps in many ways, with their committed social workers and acts of charity they help to make a life with cancer bearable. They presented Debi with opportunities and events to get away from the life of a cancer patient, to live a full and enjoyable life despite her diagnosis. This is so important to a cancer sufferer, research and medical breakthroughs are of course necessary, but giving people something to look forward to during treatment is fundamental. Clic Sargent provide a shoulder to lean on for both cancer sufferers and their loved ones and family. The help that CLIC Sargent gave Debi cannot be underestimated, her social worker Josie helped out in so many aspects of her life, making it a little bit less of a whirlwind and helped Debi feel more secure, happy and active. We all hugely appreciate what this charity did and continues to do for us and so many others. We need to do as much as we can to make sure they can continue to positively effect the lives of young cancer sufferers for years to come.

Debi had some of her happiest memories and days thanks to opportunities and events ran or provided by CLIC Sargent. And she isn't a unique case, in terms of her diagnosis and in terms of how much better life with cancer is with the help of this charity. So many young people unfortunately need the help of CLIC Sargent, but in keeping with Debi's positive attitude and love its important we focus on the positive aspect of just how it does. We are trying to raise continuous awareness and funding for this charity because regular and sustained funding is the only way charities can do as much as they are doing for cancer sufferers such as Debi. So please donate what you can when you can, feel free to share memories, photos, stories of your time with Debs or your time with any loved one who may have been unfortunate enough to need the help of these charities. It doesn't have to be much and it doesn't have to be often, we're just trying to honour Debi’s memory. We saw what a true difference CLIC Sargent makes, and how much money it needs if they are going to continue to support cancer sufferers and their families. Thank you! X
