Story

The Donkey Run in Cyprus - a 135 mile run in a time limit of 48 hours. Start at 1000 hours on Saturday 27 July –  Monday 29 July 2013.

It’s not going to be a race of a big gain in elevation, I will be running 135 miles of never ending hills; it will feel something like running up and down 100 to 500 flights of stairs continuously for the length of the race. The trail is made from loose gravel 4-meters wide, in temperatures of 45C (113F), U.V. index 11. 70% to 100% humidity in the shade. However there is no shade. Except when it’s night time.

Despite elevations only lifting up to about 1800 feet, the course is very hilly.  The remoteness of the course makes it impossible for crews and large service stations to be sited along its route.  Basically, this race is one long adventure foot race where runners will need to fend for themselves and will need to live without the luxury of a pacer or crew.

Once again, I hope to raise awareness of the charity Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland, and in particular for the Steve Cully Tribute Fund.
