Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year I wanted to make a positive impact on a project that attempts to make a real difference to women trying to break the cycle of poverty affecting them in Zambia. I will therefore be running three races in support of this cause; the Cambridge Boundary Marathon, the London Marathon, and the Lakeland 50.
The project gives microloans to women affected by AIDS in Zambia, so that they can set up their own small businesses and support themselves and their families. On average each women provides care to 7-8 people in her household. This means that the total of 150 loans benefit 1100 people directly. Once their business is established, the women pay back their loans, which can then be used to help other women.
This is a fairly small project in the scheme of things, but it is having a really big impact, and every pound donated is really appreciated.
