Well I made it back from Africa fairly unscathed. As you can see, I have uploaded evidence that I actually made it to the top of Kilimanjaro. It is, without a shadow of a doubt one of the most testing challenges both physically and mentally that I have ever endured. To try and put things in perspective for you all - The penultimate peak that is 'Gilmans point' is reached via a vertical gravel bank. We did this climb from 11pm till 6.30am, all the way taking one step up and sliding two back down...lots of morale needed here as - in addition - you are battling against freezing cold conditions and watching several people you have met on the way up being dragged back down by porters....scary stuff at times. Also, the last 250 meters from Gilmans Point to Uhuru Peak, took the remains of our group 2.5 hours to walk. All in all though, I can say now - though not at the time ha - it was worth EVERY minute.
