My story

On 22nd April 2012 I ran the London Marathon in a time of 4 hours 12 minutes to raise money and awareness for Working Families, a national charity that supports working parents and carers. I’m lucky in that I had a happy childhood with parents who were able to balance work and home life. Everyone isn’t in that fortunate position however and Working Families offers crucial support to thousands of low income carers and parents, helping them to keep their jobs AND look after their families.  They are achieving this by:

  • Providing working parents and carers with free legal and in-work benefits advice and information, and help on how to negotiate flexible hours
  • Training employers to introduce, promote and manage employee engagement and demonstrate the value of family-friendly workplaces
  • Campaigning and conducting ground-breaking research which provides evidence for policy-makers to improve work life balance.

Working Families helps parents and so helps children.  Please help me support this great cause by sponsoring me whatever you can! Thanks
