Defeating England · 17 January 2004

Deafness Research UK is a national charity which is committed to securing radical improvements in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of deafness and other hearing impairments such as tinnitus.

Story

My latest charity fundraising challenge is to cycle from Berwick in the Borders to Land's End, the length of England. This in aid of Defeating Deafness. Hence Defeating England!!

I have done a charity event once a year for the past few years and try to make each one harder than the last as some sort of justification for tapping up friends and relatives every year for their cash!! This year the challenge is so great I have opened up the begging to the rest of the world!!

The deed is accomplished but there is still time to donate. If you're not sure whether the challenge was stiff enough, imagine cycling for 6+ hours a day (average 70miles) in the weather we had a week ago - cold, wet and very windy.. I did it for 8 days and it was truly grim!...
