Following SSGT Steve Woods run last year the Defence Attache Air Commodore Carl Scott AFC thought it would be a great idea for the Defence Section staff to run the Lake Baikal Marathon/1/2 Marathon this year.  He finally managed to talk Major Catriona Caie, SSGT Steve Woods and myself CPO Phil Old into joining him for this years event.  With a 5 month winter Moscow is an ideal training environment in preparation for the even colder temperatures of Siberia (-23 deg if we are lucky) for running across a frozen Lake Baikal.  We initially contemplated the Marathon but decided the 1/2 marathon in the temperatures would be more realistic, although Major Caie may still decide to run the Marathon.  I will update and add pictures on our return next week.  In he meantime we would be grateful for any donations to the Royal British Legion - many thanks
