Stratford Triathlon 2018 · 29 April 2018 ·

Inspired by the lives of Dr Dominic Beer and Joseph Harris we fund raise to support community projects, raise awareness and facilitate research in order to promote improved mental health in two groups of people: adults suffering from Severe and Enduring Mental Illness and young adults

Story

In November 2017 we received the awful news that our friend Joe Harris had passed away whilst doing charity work in South Africa. Jarris was an integral member of Warwick Lacrosse, which I came to love when I joined university.

Jarris captained the mixed team in my only lacrosse game during my first year, at training you could consistently rely on him to brighten some otherwise pretty miserable, late, sessions. Joe showed a genuine passion for the sport and for life; he'd always have a huge, infectious smile on his face!

Jarris was great at lacrosse but it was as a triathlete that he really excelled. He represented Great Britain at the Under 20 World Championships in 2012.

As he is sadly not here to take part in the Stratford (Sprint) Triathlon, there is a large team of family and friends doing exactly that in his memory!

Any donation is hugely appreciated and will be given to The Dominic Beer Memorial Trust, a charity Jarris was a trustee of. The charity was set up to honour Joe's uncle, Dominic Beer. They work hard to support community projects or research that benefit people suffering from severe mental illness.
