The 4Get Me Not fundraisers consist of seven members who have all been affected by family members having Dementia. The mother of two of the members passed away last year from Dementia. She was the aunty of two of our other members. The father of the three remaining members is living with Dementia for the last five years.
This illness is one of the least funded diseases and has very little awareness coverage.
There are currently 820,000 people with dementia in the UK (Alzheimer's Research Trust 2010).One in three of us will be affected by dementia at some point in our lives.
There will be over a million people with dementia by 2025.
60,000 deaths a year are directly attributable to dementia.
Delaying the onset of dementia by 5 years would reduce deaths directly attributable to dementia by 30,000 a year.
We are also hosting a cocktail party night at The Willow in Winchmore Hill, London N21 on 17th October 2010, from 7.30pm - 11.30pm (tickets only) to raise funds for this very worthy cause and to raise awareness.
Our aim is to raise as much money as we can for this worthy charity as well as raise awareness around Dementia. Not forgetting the extraordinary responsibility the carers have for caring for their loved ones.
